Rehabilitation Engineering uses technology to enable people with disabilities to reach their goals at work, school, and home.

I'm Dave Lafever, a self-employed rehabilitation engineer.  I provide assistive technology services to people with disabilities, including:
  • Job Accommodations 
  • Computer Access Evaluations
  • Home Modifications 
  • Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair
  • Installations
  • Training
  • Custom work, including hardware and software


Technical qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue
  • 10 years medical/industrial/software engineering work before specializing in rehabilitation

     
Experience:

  • 20+ years in rehabilitation engineering (often serving over 100 consumers/year)
  • Provided team-based services with case managers and other service providers
  • Worked for Vocational Rehabilitation, Veteran’s Affairs, businesses, and schools
  • Worked with consumers in office, industrial, home, and school settings
  • Work experience in industrial, business, mechanical, construction, automotive, and agriculture


Provided services to consumers who have various disabilities, including:

  • Physical impairments
  • Vision impairments
  • Hearing impairments
  • Speech and language difficulties
  • Developmental delays

 

I am committed to providing excellent service to counselors and consumers:

  • Excellent communication skills and detailed, concise reports
  • Fast response with extremely high consumer and counselor satisfaction
  • Invoices are sent with reports

 

I offer individualized technology services all over Indiana on a fee-for-service basis to Vocational Rehabilitation, the Veterans Affairs program, businesses, private foundations, schools, and private-pay individuals.

 

I also offer general consultation on assistive technology upon request.
